- Sense of letting go and giving to charity. Clothes, cars, appliances, etc are items that can be donated to local charities and causes. In most cases, donations can be claimed as tax deduction.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before you begin the decluttering challenge: hold yourself accountable – partner up with a friend, make time to complete the challenge, schedule days for donation and bulk trash pickup, and have lots of trash bag and recycling bins on hand.
